  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional)
Like I even listed this one. This may always be number one in the next 1,000 years. Over
2 million people with this certification

  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
This is the second decided to work for most network administrators, related to the current IP, over the growing demand for their
professional level as compared to Microsoft Certifications

  • MCPD (Microsoft Certified Profesional Developer)
This has a rocket since last year. Demand for these developers are more than 80% compared to last year, and seems to be
Slowing down any time soon. There are only slightly more than 3000 currently with the certification. If you are looking for
a certification track, I would give this one alot of consideration.

  • SCJP (SUN Certified Java Programmer)
Today, a Java credential is one of the most valuable credentials that a programmer or developer can have.
About 70% of business entities' development projects are done through J2EE.

  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
One of the elite certifications. With CISSP's earning $94,070 a year on average, it is easy to see why this
one is on the list. The exam lasts up to six hours,
and includes 250 multiple choice questions. It is also $500, so you might want to study for this one.

  • Comptia A+
I had already figured out that nobody is, I guess. This is the first time most people get is the first qualification
starting in the I.T field. It is by far the most popular entry level certification.
  • Comptia Network +
Coming in just behind. This is usually the 2nd confirmation that acquire most IT professionals. Which is great
because Network systems and data communications analysts is ranked Number 2 on the Most in demand jobs list

  • MCTS SQL Server 2005(The Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)
SQL Server 2005 is going to be hot next year. Alot of companies are switching to SQL Server 2005 and
these guys are going to be in big demand. Companies of all sizes need these professionals to manage
everything from planning a new database to managing and supporting existing databases.
  • RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
About 25% of enterprises will be running mission-critical applications on the Linux open-source operating system
system by 2009, according to a survey by Saugatuck Technology and BusinessWeek Research Services.
By the end of 2007 the figure will be 18%. RHCE is called the "crown jewel of Linux certifications"

  • Comptia Security+
Growth in Security+, which covers topics like communication security, infrastructure security,
cryptography, access control and authentication, shows no signs of slowing down. Comptia's
Security+ Credential is must have in todays world.

3 Marketing Mistakes Web Site Designers Make When Selling Their Services

11/23/2009

1) They don't have their own domain.

If you knew that you were going to the primo networking event of the year, would you bring business cards printed with your neighbors telephone number? Heck no!

So why would you waste your time and energy building a reputable web site design firm, under somebody else's domain? Somewhere down the road you'll eventually get your own URL, so start your business the way you want to finish it.

It costs just $8.95 to register your own domain with GoDaddy.com for a year. Reliable hosting service can be had for less than $20 a month.

I gleefully pay $18.95 a month for my service, and they include all sorts of neat perks. That's just 5 bucks a week, less than a dollar a day. If your biz isn't worth a $1 a day investment, then you should be looking for an alternative line of work.

2) They don't offer any indication of their price range.

Even if you don't want to give up the entire farm, always give your sites visitors some sort of indication of what your prices are like. This way if your design skills match what they're looking for, they have an idea on whether they can afford your services or not.

The best way to do this, is to simply give a price range on your 'Request a Quote' page. Here's a brief blurb that you can use:

"Each web site we design has unique elements specific for that particular company. Therefore we do not have set prices. However, just to give you some indication, our rates for complete site design basically range from $250-$10,000, depending on the complexity of the job.

If you'd like a precise quote for your Web site, please fill out the following form."

3) They use cool techie terms to motivate the prospect.

Let's say I'm relatively new to the Net, and I'm looking for a decent site designer. Somehow I stumble across your little home on the web. Your site looks good and it loads fast.

Then I and click on the link that describes your services and you have something like this:

"We use Java, Javascript, CGI-BIN and Perl programming, Cold Fusion, and DHTML to build your site."

Duh! I can barely figure out how to configure my e-mail filtering program, and now you're giving me a cold rundown of your technical capabilities. Assuming I'm not a technophobe, you're still bombarding me with too much techno-babble!

A better way to handle this situation is to tell me 'why' I'll need all this razmatazz that you're offering. Give me benefits on why Java is a good thing for my site, and not in my coffee cup. Tell me 'how' DHTML is going to make my life easier. Make believe I'm a client who has more than enough money to spend, but needs a little hand holding to understand all the technical terms.

Hot Careers Include Search Engine Optimization Consulting

11/23/2009

My son is just beginning his first year of college this fall. It’s hard to imagine that he’ll be leaving home, but I guess we all face this moment eventually. Some people pursue post-secondary education to widen their horizons but Ken is much more pragmatic than that; he wants that degree to help make more money and nothing more. That’s all well and good, but when he announced that he was looking at Java programming or website development, I suggested that he might want to rethink that strategy. The problem is this: web development has been around for so long that much of the mechanics of it have become a black box that almost anyone can work with. Sure, a really sharp programmer can fine-tune a web site to wring more performance out of it and a graphic designer can tweak it to look better, but that whole space is saturated. You aren’t just competing with the do-it-yourself crowd and the one-person web development companies, but you’re also dealing with the tens of thousands of web developers that various schools have churned out over the past five years. It’s hardly a recipe for commanding a top salary.

I beat Ken, that working with Web sites is still lucrative, but not in the program area. What he should focus on is learning about search engine optimization. Search engines have become a dominant force in the real Internet, and the largest of all, Google is one of the largest tech companies of this century. With the continued growth of the Internet, the sheer volume of information is always overwhelming. Search engines should not only remain a critical component, but think many of my colleagues, they could be even more dominant, I tend to agree with them.

It stands to reason that if the search engine will be such a web browsing experience important part, and then optimization, increase website through the search engine (or SEO) visibility has become increasingly important. Search engine optimization is a skill that requires a lot of training, there is no one that many people training. When it comes to success or failure of a website's appearance is important, but separate from the traffic is the ultimate loser's success. To increase network traffic, the key is effective SEO, more and more companies will be seeking to increase the skills of the people of this important marketing team and needs to compensate.
